Without carbohydrates life is very painful. And even more painful if you exercise. For the most part, you should never take carbs out of your diet.
The problem here is that most people do not know how to optimize their carbohydrate intake for the best health and fitness benefits.
So here is how to dial in your intake of carbohydrates:
1. Don’t go too low: If you go really low with your intake, you will start to burn through excess muscle tissue for energy. Even worse, your mental performance will suffer. You see, carbs are the preferred source of fuel for your brain.
2. Have a shake right after your last exercise: Time is of the essence here. And bear in mind that you don’t have to have a supplement here, you can make your own natural shake with blended oats, for instance. Just make sure you are getting some form of liquid carbohydrate into your system.
3. Don’t overdo your consumption of whole grains: Many people have fallen under the impression that whole grains are super healthy. Well, the reality is that you should only have whole grains during times of intense physical activity.
4. Don’t focus on fruit: Too much fruit does more harm than good. You see, fruit has a lot of fructose. And fructose can cause your body to produce more triglycerides and bad cholesterol. So make sure the bulk of your fruit intake is in the morning.
5. Combine your starchy carbs with vegetables: Vegetables are a very powerful tool for increasing energy while simultaneously slowing down digestion. So try to combine your starchy carbs with vegetables as much as possible.
6. Avoid night eating syndrome: Night eating syndrome can singlehandedly destroy all your efforts to get in shape. So make sure you don’t gorge on carbs right before going to bed. Even worse, don’t have carbs in the middle of the night.
Most people are not managing their intake of carbohydrates properly. So make sure you take action here sooner rather than later!

Some people believe that skipping meals is good for losing weight. But then the body would respond in the compensatory mode leading to over-eating the next meal. It is better to identify what food suits your metabolism. Keeping a record of the food that you eat and how your body reacts to the food, is a good way of knowing what food would keep your weight down while keeping you healthy. Cutting down fat content in the diet is believed to be good to lose weight. But the human body requires some amount of fat for keeping healthy. A drastic reduction in fat could lead to imbalance in the hormones and could result in diseases. One must learn to choose the right amount of natural fat. For instance, olive oil, avocado oil, mustard oil and walnut oil reduce the speed of digestion contributing to weight loss. It is not as though that more calorie consumption equals more fat accumulation.
It is widely believed and propagated that one has to keep a tab on the calorie intake to avoid becoming overweight or reduce the calorie intake for weight loss. But in fact it is the kind of food that one eats that matters than the calorie count. Metabolically more fattening food should be avoided or consumed less, rather than lowering the calorie intake. For instance, eating fresh fruits is better for losing weight rather than drinking fruit juice.
Physical exercises are a good way to keep your body in order. It is believed that one must sweat while exercising and that it is an indicator of burning away the fat. Perspiration does not burn away the fat. It is a mechanism of the body to cool down the body when it is heated up. Not everyone also sweats the same way. It differs from person to person. There are many kinds of exercises and physical training for weight loss. What you need is a choice of exercises that you can choose from suited to your body requirement. There are e-books such as Workout Without Weights that offers you a wide choice.
There is a mistaken belief that drinking more water is vital for losing weight. Some also drink hot water after each meal. No doubt that drinking water is important for the body as most of the body consist of water which s also the medium for its functions. Besides this the toxins in the body gets flushed out better with more water. But water does not flush away the fat by any chance.
Health is very important. Thus, each one should take care of their health by maintaining healthy lifestyles and practices.

This is VIDEO #7 of my weekly chats
with my friend Dave the Raw Food Trucker!
BACKGROUND:
For those of you just joining us on this video, make sure to also watch the rest of this series of videos at http://bit.ly/Hfc1X and also quickly read the following background info on Dave’s amazing story of natural healing!:
My friend Dave the raw food truck driver tells his story of how he came from the brink of death to heal himself of several diseases including colon cancer, type II diabetes, kidney disease, with the consumption of raw foods. Not to mention his amazing weight loss of 178 pounds over the last 16 months, and he’s not stopping there. He is going to go ALL the way with his health, and wants YOU too as well. This guy is a TRUE SUPERHERO!!
*****VIDEO #7 UPDATE*****
Dave is on Day 13 of a juice feast and he feels fantastic! 34 days is the longest he has ever juice feasted, and his goal for this one is a 64 day juice feast. Although he says he will still be listening to his body and will stop sooner if that is what his body tells him to do! He is currently basing most of his juices with powdered mixes such as BarleyMax, so he can more easily stick to the plan while on the road. He feels the BarleyMax gives him a real kick!
Dave is also now thrilled to finally be fitting into a size 42 pant, after being stuck in a 44 pant for awhile. Even if this means that the rate of his weight loss might be slowing, he still just knows he needs to continue on, and “stay as organic, raw & vegan as possible!”
Dave says he feels energetically alive!
Dave was also happy to share how he has been helping others out: he recently met with 4 people who have cancer, followed by 4 people who have insulin-resistant diabetes. Dave says that he feels so blessed to be able to help people, by simply sharing with them his personal experience of how he cured himself of colon cancer and diabetes!
And Dave healed himself of these ailments, all through the healing power of juices & raw foods…whole fruits & vegetables, partnered with primarily vegetable juicing. When not using the BarleyMax powdered juice mix, he focuses on raw vegetable juice recipes made with dark, leafy greens, as well as celery. If he should ever add any fruit, he sticks with the low-glycemic fruits such as cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers– yes, those are all technically fruits!
Dave believes that such juices have some type of life force healing energy…perhaps from the chlorophyll, from the fact that the enzymes and everything in them is raw and living, and/or the energetics of each unique type of vegetable or fruit. He believes eating and drinking raw vegan and organic foods allow the immune system to heal itself!
Last but not least, if you ever find yourself really craving something cooked or more ‘heavy’ and you happen to live in California, Dave wholeheartedly recommends dining at Juliano’s raw food restaurant called “Planet Raw,” located in Santa Monica. Prepare to enjoy some really, really tasty raw food! http://planetraw.com
I hope you enjoyed this catch-up with Dave as much as I did!
